Summer Camp, Adult-Style: Week Four

Happy 1st of July! With the shortened workweek, there’s even more time to enjoy everything Houston has to offer, and with the absence of triple-digit temps in the forecast, venturing outside will seem downright pleasant. Houston Symphony’s Star-Spangled Salute: Wednesday, July 3 The Woodlands Get a jump on local 4th of July festivities with the 23rd annual Star-Spangled salute at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Freedom Over Texas: Thursday, July 4

Houston

The City of Houston has created a one-stop shop for everything associated with Independence Day at their official 4th of July celebration. Entertainers Sheryl Crow and Martina McBride headline the show, but with a Kids Zone, Family Fitness Challenge with the Houston Dynamo and exhibits from the Museum of Military History and Museum of Printing History, Freedom Over Texas has something for everyone. Bayou Bikers at Market Square: Sunday, July 7

Bayou Bikers

The first Sunday of every month, Bayou Bikers meet at Market Square for 25 to 40 mile bike rides to explore the bayous of Houston. These rides are open to all, but mountain bikes or bikes with fat tires are necessary. These informal meet-ups are ideal to begin familiarizing yourself with one of Houston’s oft-overlooked natural resources.
